Coming off a bumpy Copa America tournament where the Americans didn’t get to the knockout stage, they also fell to Canada, 2-1, in their first of four international friendlies to happen in September and October. The Tuesday matchup with New Zealand happens in Cincinnati and offers the U.S. an opportunity to find a solid rhythm with two more tune-ups to go.
The home loss to Canada last time out was the first on U.S. soil since 1957 with the Canadiens jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the 58th minute and firing off over twice as many shots (17 to 8).

New Zealand was also on the short end of a weekend international friendly, dropping a 3-0 match to Mexico. The New Zealanders haven’t played more than a friendly in international play since World Cup qualifying in 2022.
