Michigan’s next decent rainfall might be a while

We are going to want to keep an eye on our landscape plantings. We have a potentially damaging hot and dry weather pattern. Let me show you when we could get our next decent, widespread rainfall here in Michigan.

The coming weather pattern over the next two weeks will be very warm, and some may even call it hot. Afternoon temperatures most days will be in the 80s probably through the weekend of September 21-22. The humidity will start off low today through this weekend and then increase to muggy air next week.

Without rain this will be a very drying time here in Michigan. You’ll want to keep any recently planted shrub or tree watered. If you planted this greenery this spring or summer, the roots may not have expanded into the existing soil yet. The trees and shrubs are still vulnerable to a very dry period. Unfortunately if you notice browning on an evergreen it may be too late to save it.
