CHAMPAIGN, Illinois — Kansas football matched up against Illinois on Saturday in another non-conference matchup, but weren’t able to leave with a win.
The No. 20 Jayhawks (1-1) suffered a 23-17 defeat against the Fighting Illini (2-0). Although Kansas enjoyed success at times over the course of the contest, it also got in its own way when it came to turnovers. Redshirt junior quarterback Jalon Daniels threw three interceptions, allowing Illinois to take the time it needed to overcome its own issues offensively.
Kansas will return home and start to prepare for a game against UNLV. That’ll be the Jayhawks’ last game in non-conference play before the Big 12 Conference slate begins. Kansas is still a contender, but it certainly learned it has a lot of room for growth still.
