Heisman candidate Quinn Ewers had a great day in Ann Arbor. The Texas QB went 24 of 36 for 246 and 3 TDs against a well-respected Michigan Wolverines defense.
Ewers validated his growing reputation as a big game quarterback in a performance has been one of the big story lines coming out of Week 2 of the college football season.
Indeed, in Paul Myerberg’s weekly ‘Winners and Losers’ column, USA TODAY lists Ewers as one of the big winners of Week 2.
Quinn Ewers
Ewers has to be seen as the current Heisman favorite after his performance in Ann Arbor. It’s a very deep race at this early moment: Miami’s Cam Ward has been terrific, Georgia’s Carson Beck continues to excel and Mississippi’s Jaxson Dart is off to a torrid start, so Ewers has plenty of company near the top. Already sitting at 506 yards and six scores through two games, Ewers will stay in the national spotlight thanks to games against No. 13 Oklahoma (Oct. 12) and No. 1 Georgia (Oct. 19). — Paul Myerberg
Ewers growth and maturity this season have been on full display. No dount he’ll be on the ‘Winners List’ a lot more this fall.
