While the infighting between Taylor Swift fans is only heating up after the singer’s U.S. Open outing with Brittany Mahomes, even her staunchest supporters are now taking a clear stance against the pop star.
After Swift, 34, and Mahomes, 29, did not sit together at the Kansas City Chiefs’ season opener last week, many fans were relieved. After all, that meant that the Grammy winner was not hugging and cheering with the friend who has seemingly come out as a Trump supporter in recent weeks.
That all changed this weekend, however, when the “Karma” singer and Brittany — along with their respective partners, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes — were photographed hugging and celebrating while at the U.S. Open in New York City.

For Swifties furious over Brittany’s alleged support of the controversial presidential candidate, to see Swift herself cozying up to Brittany sent them over the edge, calling the “Maroon” singer wildly “hypocritical.” Fans specifically brought Swift’s 2020 documentary, Miss Americana, to the forefront of their arguments, sharing clips of an impassioned Swift informing her team that she made the decision to be on “the right side of history” and publicly speak out against Trump — no matter the consequences.
“5 years ago taylor was crying in a documentary bc wanted to actively go against trump which she did and branded herself as miss americana,” one person wrote. “now she’s cuddling with trumpies.”
“as a swiftie myself… i think taylor should be held accountable at this point. her doing these things are like a big f*** you to miss americana,” another fan opined. “the fact that she knows she has the biggest platform out of anyone in the world and can truly make a change, and isn’t doing anything?!”
“We as swifties need to call out taylor for being hypocrital [sic] and a performative activist,” a third user declared. “she cries and makes a huge deal about being an activist in miss americana and then surround herself with trumpies and predators. i’m so disappointed in her.”
“i fear we need a word stronger than hypocrite to call taylor,” wrote someone else.
“I would delete the miss americana documentary at this point lmao,” tweeted another Swiftie. “how f***ing embarrassing.”
In a crucial moment in the documentary, Taylor is seated with top members of her team — including parents Andrea and Scott Swift — crying with anger as she declares she needs to speak out on “something I know is right,” referring to her stance against Trump and Tennessee senator Marsha Blackburn.
“I’m sad that I didn’t [speak out against Trump] two years ago but I can’t change that,” Taylor says at one point in the heated documentary discussion. “I’m saying that right now, I know that this is something that I know is right … I need to be on the right side of history.”
