ORONO, Maine (WABI) – Maine football fell to No. 3 Montana State, 41-24, on Saturday night in Bozeman.
Black Bears head coach Jordan Stevens gave his take on his team’s performance against one of the best teams in the FCS.
“The slow start really killed us. (It cost us) having any momentum out of the gate. I think putting ourselves in that hole was really hard to get out of. I was really proud of the players (with) how they responded to end the first half. Coming out in the second half, (they did) a great job of finishing the game (by) limiting them to three points in the second half. I thought that was something to build off,” said Stevens.
The Black Bears return home on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. when they take on the Monmouth Hawks.
The Hawks offense is led by quarterback Derek Robertson, who started last year for Maine before transferring to Monmouth in the off-season.
