Colorado head coach Deion Sanders met with the media following his team’s 28-10 loss to Nebraska on Saturday evening. He started his availability by discussing his frustration with the offense’s inability to make big plays against the Nebraska defense.
“Tough game for us. We came out on the short end of the stick, obviously. Starting out, we felt good about matchups and so good about the competition and what we brought to the table. Today, the game started, and I thought first of all, first ball got deflected, second ball was incomplete, and it just was just not in rhythm. Shedeur (Sanders) came out and did something very unlike himself, characteristically, he never makes a bad decision, especially in that part of the field, which they got the pick six. After that, we were just trying to catch up. He’d been surrendering some things early, but I’m really, really pleased with the way they played in the second half, really pleased with the second-half defense, but overall, certainly not happy with the outcome. Positive things in the way we competed in the second half. We had no give up. We’ve gotta do a better job offensively with protection as well as trying to figure out how to establish a run game and be consistent with that.”

“Knowing that we have a tremendous offense, that we can move the ball and should be able to move the ball. We should be able to protect with experience that we have offensively, and we just couldn’t get it going straight. We had some spurts and some great moments. I mean, we had some timing routes that we timed right up, but the way we started is just not indicative of who we are, and we just never got it together. Sometimes you have those games and then you have those days, today is just one of those games and days.”

“Yeah, that was the whole post game, not speech, but conversation that we had. I can’t wait. Everybody in this room is dealing with some type of adversity, and our young men are as well. I want to see how we all respond to adversity. That’s what makes us, that’s what elevates us, that’s what progresses us to the next level, how we deal with adversity. Everybody’s got a piece of adversity to deal with right now, and those young men just dealt with it in front of millions of people.”
