Social media reacts to Oklahoma’s performance in win over Houston

The Oklahoma Sooners scored just 16 points in their week two win over the Houston Cougars and two of those came from a defensive safety at the end of the game.

In the second half, in particular, it was a performance reminiscent of the Red River Showdown when the Sooners were shut out by Texas. Jackson Arnold struggled to complete passes down the field, and the Sooners just seemed out of sync from the get-go.

Oklahoma only rushed for 75 yards at less than three yards per carry, and Arnold averaged under six yards per attempt for the game. Very little seemed to click on offense.

And while the offense struggled, the defense came through with stop after stop. They only had one bad lapse in coverage, when Joseph Manjack got loose on a coverage bust early in the second half. Otherwise, it was another strong defensive effort for the Sooners.

But they’ll have to be better moving forward, with Tulane coming to town, followed by Tennessee. It was a performance that had fans and analysts in shock and here’s how social media reacted to the Sooners 16-12 win over Houston.

SEC Ready defense, at least

Can Brent Venables turn it around?

Only explanation

In honor of the 1950s, we’ve forgotten how to run a modern offense

Those dudes showed out

RSJ, Gracen Halton and Jake Roberts get game balls… I think everybody else gets gassers

Bud defense, but not a Bud offense

Danny Stutsman was fantastic tonight

Ugly wins still count the same

It ain’t good enough

OU had six three-and-outs tonight on offense. That is abysmal.

Could this defense carry OU’s offense?

Very odd to see an OU team carried by their defense, which might not be terrible for them heading into SEC play. #Sooners

Is OU Good?

OU is simply… not very good.

Defense is solid.

Why can’t we have nice things?

OU, where we either waste an offense with a Heisman winner or a championship defense with no offense.

Need to rethink offensive approach

Final#Sooners win it 16-12 over Houston

Outside of a muffed punt and 10 yard field, OU’s offense scores one touchdown tonight (zero points in 2nd half) as a safety by Gracen Halton was the lone score for OU in half 2

Oklahoma’s offense & scheme, game plan was not good. Period
