State Theatre New Jersey has something for everyone this season, including appearances by Blippi, The Grinch, Tina Turner and Chevy Chase!
Among the performances in September are Grammy Award honoree Don McLean, who will bring his Starry Starry Night Tour 2024 featuring the iconic tune “American Pie” and more, to the stage on Sept. 21. Original Jersey boy Frankie Valli returns to where it all began − the Garden State − to perform his Last Encores tour with The Four Seasons on Sept. 27.
Blippi in NJ
Blippi is sure to charm little ones and their big people alike with the brand new live “Blippi: Join the Band Tour” on Sept. 28. Blippi will be joined onstage by Meekah, their singing and dancing buddies and live musicians to explore what makes music, including sounds, rhythms, and instruments, through favorite Blippi hits.
October kicks off with “Tina − The Tina Turner Musical” from Oct. 3-5 among others including “The Concert: A Tribute to ABBA” on Oct. 11.
Co-presented by The Stress Factory Comedy Club, Tracy Morgan is bringing his stand-up to the State Theatre stage on Nov. 9. Musical legends Paul Anka and Dionne Warwick perform Nov. 12 and Nov. 13, respectively, while “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” offers a spectacle on Nov. 14 featuring the movie complemented by a diverse ensemble of musicians and instrumentalists performing the iconic score and soundtrack live.
Kick off the holiday season on Nov 23 and 24 with “Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical” and Murray & Peter present “A Drag Queen Christmas” on Nov. 25.
‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’ in NJ
December could not get any better than opening with Chevy Chase on Dec. 5 as he hosts an evening of holiday cheer and laughs celebrating the timeless classic, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” The special 35th Anniversary screening of the film will be followed by a live conversation and Q&A with Chevy Chase, and his wife Jayni.
Tony Award-winning actress, singer and dancer Sutton Foster makes her State Theatre debut, performing from her extensive Broadway catalogue including “The Music Man,” “Anything Goes,” “Sweeney Todd,” and more. Currently, Foster is starring in New York City Center Encores! adaptation of “Once Upon a Mattress” as Princess Winnifred.
Broadway is back with “Dear Evan Hansen” on March 28-30. The first musical to take a groundbreaking look — from the point of view of both parents and young people — at our complex, interconnected and social media-filled lives, “Dear Evan Hansen” is the winner of six Tony Awards, the Grammy Award and the Olivier Award for Best Musical.
The season closes out with the 360 All Stars on May 22 and “One Vision of Queen” featuring Marc Marte on June 13. “One Vision of Queen” is a unique tribute where some of the most iconic rock anthems of all time collide with a theatrical performance style and eye-catching production.
