The Eagles came into the 2024 season with expectations to improve following a disappointing campaign last year. After going 6-7, Chris Creighton’s team wanted to improve and be more than just a near-.500 football team, even though they went to a bowl game for the sixth time in the last eight seasons. Things started off right for the other green and white team from the Mitten, as EMU went on the road and defeated the UMass Minutemen, 28-14, last week. There is no doubt that this week’s matchup will be much tougher than their season opener, but a win in the first game of the season might be the boost of confidence the Eagles need to be competitive in Week 2.

It is hard to get a grasp on the Huskies. Following an incredible 2023 season where Heisman Trophy candidate Michael Penix Jr. led the team to the national championship game. However, with Penix moving onto the NFL, and the loss of a plethora of players, Washington entered this year with mitigated expectations, especially in joining the physical Big Ten. They, too, started 2024 with a victory, taking care of FCS opponent Weber State, 35-3, last Saturday.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Washington and Eastern Michigan on the gridiron.

MY PICK: Washington wins, 31-13
