At Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, Dylan Sampson and the Tennessee Volunteers (1-0) face Kevin Concepcion and the NC State Wolfpack (1-0) in a matchup featuring a pair of the brightest stars in college football on offense, starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Volunteers head into this matchup after a 69-3 win over the Chattanooga Mocs in their last outing. The Wolfpack are coming off of a victory over the Western Carolina Catamounts by the score of 38-21. Against the Mocs, Nico Iamaleava led the Vols with 314 yards on 22-of-28 passing (78.6%) for three touchdowns and no interceptions. Sampson totaled 124 rushing yards on 12 carries (10.3 yards per carry), scoring three touchdowns on the ground. He also had three catches for 29 yards. Dont’e Thornton had three receptions for 105 yards (35.0 per catch) and two touchdowns against the Mocs. Grayson McCall’s showing for the Pack against the Catamounts included 26-of-40 passing for 318 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Jordan Waters carried the ball 20 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns. He caught one pass for 10 yards. Concepcion caught nine passes for 121 yards (13.4 yards per catch), scoring three touchdowns.
