NKY high school football scores for Week 3

Week 3 for high school football is here in Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana, and it brings marquee matchups around the region.

A pair of 2-0 teams clashed in a Battle of Union matchup between Cooper and Ryle. Dixie Heights, a team that’s scored more than 100 points over its first two games, faced its toughest test yet in Class 2A powerhouse Beechwood. Covington Catholic played Simon Kenton, hoping to avoid starting 0-3 for the first time since 2015.

A lot is on the line in Week 3, and the Enquirer has you covered with up-to-the-minute updates from each game on the Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana slates tonight.

Covington Catholic avoided its first 0-3 start since 2015 with a commanding win over Simon Kenton. The Colonels grabbed four interceptions and gained more than 500 yards (406 rushing) in the victory. Dylan Gaiser starred for Covington Catholic on offense, going for 210 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries. Quarterback Cash Harney earned 234 total yards and a touchdown, and Andrew Bessler rushed for two touchdowns. Four different Covington Catholic players recorded an interception.

Highlands continued its strong start to the season with a commanding win over Campbell County to move to 3-0. Campbell County scored 63 points in its opening game against Scott, but today Highlands held the Camels to zero. Highlands was efficient passing (16-of-23, 235 yards, 1 touchdown) and running (218 yards, 6.1 yards per carry). Adam Surrey had an interception return for the touchdown and rushed for another. The Bluebirds return to action with a tough game against Ryle next week.

Conner fired on all cylinders in a strong win over Lafayette. The Cougars gained 333 yards to Lafayette’s 121 and scored all six times they entered the red zone. Quarterback Wyatt Hatfield starred on offense for the Cougars, going for 103 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. Cordion Abernathy and Sheppard Dozier also chipped in rushing scores.
