A look at Taylor Swift’s previous visits to Indianapolis

There’s just two months until megastar Taylor Swift brings The Eras Tour to Indianapolis, and fans hoping to scoop up tickets to one of her three shows at Lucas Oil Stadium are still encountering steep prices on the resale market.
The cheapest resale ticket to see Swift in Indianapolis is still more than $1,700 as of midnight on Sept. 3, and that’s for a partially obstructed view of the stage on the first night of the show. The ticket, posted on VividSeats, is in Section 604.
On StubHub, the cheapest ticket available was $1,850 as of midnight on Sept. 3. While it also has a obstructed view of the stage, the ticket still boasts a “great” rating. That’s for the third and final show.
For the “best view and price,” StubHub recommends a single ticket priced at $3,996 on Night 1. That is for a floor-level seat in Row 15.
IndyStar also looked at resale prices on SeatGeek. The cheapest seats on that site were for comparable prices and views of the stage.
The most expensive tickets we could find was a pair on VividSeats currently priced at 97,505 each as of Sept. 3. The most expensive ticket on StubHub is currently priced at $12,741.
If you buy resale, look closely when you reach the payment screen: Fees can add hundreds of dollars to buyers’ final cost.
Will resale prices drop before Indianapolis shows?
Since Indianapolis is the last stop on the Eras Tour (unless Swift adds more shows), there’s a decent amount of history to look back on to see what might happen to ticket prices as the show draws closer.
But there’s no guarantee that Swifties will experience the same steep price drops that happened on prior legs of the tour.
For example, the Kansas City Star back in 2023 reported on “sky-high resale values” in advance of her shows at Arrowhead Stadium, with prices reaching $14,000 per ticket at their highest point. But when Eras Tour weekend actually came around, some tickets (yes, they were nosebleeds) had dropped to $800 apiece a few days before the show.
More recently, on the European leg of the tour, tickets fell drastically right before Swift’s shows at Wembley Stadium, according to a report from business magazine Business Matters.
“For example, a ticket that was initially listed at an exorbitant £10,000 … dropped to just under £1,000 with a few days to go,” according to Business Matters’ analysis of prices over time. “The price then fell further to £856 just one day before the event, representing a 90% reduction from the initial resale price.”
Those who track Swift ticket prices aren’t sure what will happen this time around, but there could be last-minute resale ticket drops for those waiting to hold out until the very end.
“We can’t make any predictions about what the lowest dollar amount will be, but all last summer, the resale prices for each city typically hit their lowest between 4-7 p.m. on (Night one),” said one unnamed Swiftie on X. The user is known as @inmygreatwarera and shares tips for scoring Swift tickets. “Waiting to buy at that time on (Night one) was the strategy we recommended.”
Will Taylor Swift have a last-minute ticket drop for Indy shows?
There are other ways Swifties are scoring tickets for the Eras Tour in less expensive ways, but it requires some luck.
Raffles have been popping up and are ongoing. One Bloomington couple, for example, organized a raffle for a chance to win two tickets, with the proceeds going to support Middle Way House, a nonprofit crisis center for abuse and assault survivors. Raffle tickets can be purchased in Bloomington through Oct. 1.
Another raffle benefiting the Central Music Academy near Louisville also recently launched, offering fans the “chance to experience an unforgettable night and support our mission to provide exceptional music instruction and mentorship to all children.”
There’s also some accounts that are helping Swifties secure tickets, generously offered up at face value by other Swifties who can no longer attend the shows. The X account @erastourticketz is one to watch for information on securing face-value tickets, which are few and far between.
In addition, there’s a possibility that Ticketmaster will do a “last-minute drop” for the Indianapolis shows. This has been done in other cities in the weeks leading up to the show. That means Ticketmaster will release more face-value tickets on its site.
“Most cities had 2 drops,” according to a post by @inmygreatwarera. “The first one was mainly partially obstructed sections added behind the stage for $49. The second drop was typically earlier in the day of (night one) and mainly floor seats.”
How to avoid scams when buying Taylor Swift tickets
If you’re opting to buy tickets on the resale market, it’s buyer beware. There are a lot of scams out there. Some are easy to spot while others are more believable.
IndyStar recently published a guide for Swifties to protect themselves against scams.
The bottom line? Even if you can no longer get tickets directly, “look to reputable ticket brokers before doing business with a ticket scalper or a random stranger on social media.”
