HOWARD LAKE — A pedestrian was struck and killed Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 12 in Howard Lake.
Barbara Jean Hoppe, 85, of Howard Lake, was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, but her injury was fatal, according to a report from the
Minnesota State Patrol.
She was crossing the highway from north to south at 11th Avenue in the city of Howard Lake when she was struck by a van.
Jonathan William Edwards, 46, of Howard Lake, was driving a 2013 Nissan van eastbound on Highway 12, according to the report. He was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.
Alcohol was not involved,
according to the State Patrol,
and roads were dry at the time of the incident reported at 2:51 p.m. Wednesday.
Howard Lake police, fire and ambulance assisted the State Patrol as well as the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
