2024 Season Stats:
45.0 points per game, 351.0 total yards per game
85 passing yards per game, 0 passing touchdowns, 0 interceptions
266 rushing yards-per-game, 7.0 yards-per-carry, 4 touchdowns
The sample size is small for 2024 South Dakota. But it’s fair to say its offense is built around its ground game.
The Coyotes rushed for 266 yards and four touchdowns against Northern State in Week 1. It did so while QB Aidan Bouman only attempted 13 passes.
The 2023 Coyotes were more balanced with averages of 144.5 rushing and 202.1 passing yards per game. So maybe Week 1’s rushing dominance was more about the opponent than a general philosophy.
Either way, that’s what we have to go off of entering Week 2. The Coyotes top two running backs Charlies Pierre Jr. and Travis Theis combined for 25 carries, 222 yards and three touchdowns. They appear to be the focal points of the offense. They will be the duo Wisconsin will focus on stopping.
Bouman has plenty of experience at quarterback with 18 starts under his belt. His presence, paired with the team’s running game, should provide a tougher test to Wisconsin than it faced in Week 1.
