Pennsylvania State Trooper in Lancaster County stabbed during weekend incident

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Pennsylvania State Trooper is recovering after being stabbed over the weekend during an incident in Lancaster County, court documents show.

The Trooper was stabbed in the hand during a struggle with a 54-year-old man at a home in Columbia Borough around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to charging documents from State Police.

State Police say the suspect had approached a Trooper’s vehicle and was acting erratic, yelling explicit language, and calling the Trooper names. The suspect then retreated into the home and the Trooper reported smelling and seeing alcohol.

Officials attempted to enter the man’s home to take him into custody for a mental health commitment when the suspect stabbed the Trooper in the hand with a silver kitchen knife, State Police said. The man was then Tased by Troopers after he did not drop the knife, State Police said.

There was surveillance video from a home across the street that captured the stabbing, the charges show.
