It may be time to say goodbye to summer because Georgia is expecting cooler days ahead.
The National Weather Service posted on X, formerly Twitter, that Georgia residents should expect to see some cooler temperatures this week as fall has finally makes its debut.
NWS says “The Wedge” will bring cooler weather to GA.
“After a prolonged period of above average temperatures, The Wedge has arrived, and it should bring cooler than average weather to Georgia for the rest of week,” the NWS said
So, what’s ‘The Wedge?’
Well, according to the NWS, “The Wedge” is a high-pressure system near the Mid-Atlantic that funnels in cooler air and pushes it south towards Georgia. There will also be abundant cloud cover during this time.
How cool will it get?
Macon could see the temperature drop 7 to 8 degrees cooler than normal on Thursday and Friday.
Some rain and storm chances on Thursday and Friday will also help cool things off, but how long will the cool weather stay?
AccuWeather experts are predicting cooler weather to stay throughout the rest of the month, with highs in the mid to upper 80s and lows in the low 60s.
