Ankeny Centennial’s Malachi Curvey talks dominant pass rush

Ankeny Centennial’s Malachi Curvey breaks down win over rival Ankeny, his first game back with program after short stint with Waukee.

One week of Iowa high school football action is already in the books, which means it’s time to rank the top 10 teams in each class to separate the best from the rest.

Factors considered for this first set of in-season rankings included Week 1 performances (as well as “Week 0” for 8-player teams), strength of opponent and margin of victory in addition to last season’s IHSAA football success as a baseline. Teams who lost in Week 1 were still considered, and included in some cases, based on their margin of loss and the strength of their opponent.

Here are our top 10 for each class of Iowa high school football after Week 1.
