Hagerty is in the tank for Donald Trump
Re: “Harris-Walz ticket promises more freedom. Give me a break!” by Tennessee Sen. Bill Hagerty, Aug. 16.
I suggest that in the future The Tennessean fact check any article written by Tennessee’s junior U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty.
His attempted gaslighting of Tennessee’s citizens in his August 25 guest opinion column about our economy shows the senator’s total disregard for the facts and for the intelligence of his state’s vast citizenry.
Sixteen Nobel Prize winners in Economics in June of this year jointly signed a letter warning of the economic risks in a second Trump term including reheating inflation, Trump’s promise to make permanent his first term tax cuts for the wealthy and for corporations, Trump’s promise to impose universal tariffs on all imports, and pressuring the Federal Reserve to reduce interest rates.
In addition, Hagerty’s full throated support for his friend and for all things Trump, the convicted felon and sexual abuser ex-President, has not gone unnoticed by men and especially women across the state.
Furthermore, Hagerty had publicly announced he was prepared to vote for the decertification and overturning of the 2020 presidential election. He stated he changed his mind on decertification of the election after the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
The attack on the truth and the disregard for facts has been the hallmark of Donald Trump and his sycophants like Bill Hagerty. Tennessee deserves much better from our U.S. Senators.

How does Trump reflect Tennessee values?
I noticed in that Senator Hagerty disparaged the Democratic Party, in the most negative terms.
However he failed to mention any of his preferred candidate’s issues, like being a 34-time convicted felon, a man found liable for sexual assault, a man who has been married three times and committed adultery on all three women, who was great friends with a child molester, stole classified documents, led an attempted overthrow of a duly elected government , etc., etc.
Can he please answer why he supports a man so criminal to head our country? These values are not “Tennessee Values“ and certainly not mine.

Republicans do what they accuse Democrats of doing
Tennessee U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty dares to call out the Kamala Harris campaign for a new low of propaganda and gaslighting when his own party of Trumpers have sunk far lower.
He says Democrats think Americans can’t be trusted to raise their own children, but it’s Republicans that made a law prohibiting parents from doing what they think is best for their transgender child.
Hagerty claims Democrats want to get involved in your medical decisions, but it’s Republicans who overturned Roe v Wade and want to criminalize abortion. As to the remark about discerning the truth, the truth is just that. Nothing to discern, only need verification.
There is no such thing as alternative facts, Mr. Hagerty. I expected a better critique of the Harris campaign coming from our state senator, not more drama garbage and big government propaganda.

Look in the mirror when blaming the other party
All l want to say is how in God’s Creation did Bill Hagerty become a Senator? He has to be one of the most out-of-touch men l have ever heard of. His article in The Tennessean’s Aug. 25 “Insight “ section is so out sight out of mind.
Who was president when COVID hit the U. S.? His defending of a convicted ex-president is disgraceful, just like he is.
Let’s put the blame where it belongs, Hagerty. The article that was written by you is blaming the wrong people in government.
Sounds like you are trying to win brownie points from the GOP – which just shows how disgusting and shameful you are.

Trump cast a spell on Hagerty and his MAGA supporters
With all due respect to Tennessee U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty, I’d like to respond to his article entitled “Harris-Walz ticket promises more freedom. Give me a break!” (Aug. 16).
Senator Hagerty covered many topics that he believes in fact lessen our individual freedoms and then ended with the statement, “If this election is about true American-style freedom, Donald Trump is the only choice.”
Give me a break! Something is being overlooked here, and that is unfortunately there are some, maybe a lot of Republican leaders who appear to be under a Trump spell.
I don’t call that freedom by any stretch of imagination. Knowing what we know it would be good to take a step back and do some reflection for the good of all.
