South Dakota man sentenced for fentanyl drug ring | The Mighty 790 KFGO

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KFGO/KELO) — A Rapid City man was sentenced Friday to more than 33 years for distribution of fentanyl which resulted in a death.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of S.D. 37-year-old Cory Croyle, and others were distributing large quantities of fentanyl and heroin in the Rapid City area between 2021 and 2023.

Croyle, who was on parole at the time of the offense, had a significant role in the drug conspiracy. He knew the deadly risks of distributing fentanyl and yet he continued to sell the substance.

The conspiracy led to the death of a person in the Rapid City area. Croyle and his co-conspirator brought about one pound to over two pounds of fentanyl into South Dakota.

According to the DEA, two milligrams of fentanyl can be lethal depending on a person’s body size, tolerance and past usage. One milligram is about the weight of a small grain of sand. The judge noted this was one of the larger quantities of drugs they have seen in decades on the bench.
