OSU transfer quarterback Gunnar Gundy shined on Thursday as he led Emporia State to a 30-14 home win over Washburn.

Gundy, who’s the son of OSU head coach Mike Gundy, went 27 for 41 through the air (65.9%) for 292 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the Week 1 victory. The former Stillwater High standout also ran the ball 11 times for 99 yards.

Gundy appeared in nine games throughout his three seasons with OSU. He completed 54.8% of his passes during that time for 449 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions.

Gundy then entered the transfer portal on December 6 and later committed to Ohio, but he re-entered the portal on January 23. He ultimately committed to Emporia State, a Division II program in Kansas, on July 23.
