First title for Megan Dennis, 35th De Martini

Megan Dennis, 25, took her first rookie title in her ninth event on the LET Access. She won the Get Golfing Women’s Golf Championship with a 209 (71 67 71, -7), the richest tournament on the circuit with a prize pool of 80,000 euros, and secured 12,800 euros, practically double the average first place.

The Englishwoman, who had already achieved a third and a fifth place, started the final round as leader together with the Swedish Kajsa Arwefjall, number one in the order of merit, and then with a 71 (-1), which was also very complex (five birdies, two bogeys, a double bogey), she relegated her to second place with 211 (-5).

Three Italian players took part in the event. Erika De Martini, 35th with 223 (76 72 75, +7), who failed to make the cut in the nine seasonal events in which she took part only once, was again in the money. Two more strokes for Emma Lindgren, 42nd with 225 (70 76 79, +9), while Marta Spiazzi, 100th with 156 (74 82, +12), was out after 36 holes.

In the rankings, the Austrian Katharina Muehlbauer occupied third place with 212 (-4), then in fourth place with 213 (-3) the Swedish Isabell Ekstrom and the English amateur Jessica Hall, in sixth with 214 (-2) the Danish Natacha Host Husted and in seventh with 215 (-1) the Norwegian Maiken Bing Paulsen and the French Lucie Malchirand, winner as an amateur of a Ladies Italian Open (2021).

The next competition is the Rose Ladies Open (6-8 September, The Melbourne Club at Brocket Hall, England) with a prize pool of 70,000 euros, the second highest on the calendar. The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978.

It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors.

The tour is run by a board of directors and a Players’ Council. Most of the players on the tour are European, with members from more than 40 countries internationally. The tour operates tournaments across five continents
