The Buckeyes will have an assortment of games broadcast on CBS this season, as the network long known for carrying the top SEC games this season will now air primetime Big Ten games in 2024.

With CBS carrying a primetime Big Ten game each week this season, expect No. 2 Ohio State to feature on the channel multiple times this season, starting with its season opener against Akron on Saturday. The 2024 Big Ten Championship will also be aired on CBS.
Ohio State’s game against Akron kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 31.

Why is Ohio State playing on CBS?
Ohio State will likely have multiple games on CBS this season, as each week the top Big Ten matchup will be broadcast in the 3:30 p.m. ET primetime window on the channel.
The move is a part of numerous college football changes this season, as the SEC’s new media rights deal with ESPN kicks in. The top SEC games each week used to be during the mid-day CBS window.
Now, the channel holds top Big Ten games, which will likely feature Ohio State numerous times this season, as the No. 2 Buckeyes are expected to be among the top national championship contenders in country. CBS will also air select Mountain West and Service Academy Games in 2024.
CBS has already announced the matchups for the first four weeks of the season, with Week 5 games onward being selected closer to six or 12 days ahead of each Saturday. The first four matchups on CBS are Ohio State-Akron, Iowa State-Iowa, Notre Dame-Purdue and Michigan-USC in the primetime window, with other matchups airing in the 7:30 p.m. ET window.
Last season marked CBS’ first time airing Big Ten games, starting with seven matchups. This season the channel will carry 17 Big Ten games, including the Big Ten Championship.

Ohio State’s game against Akron on Saturday will air live on CBS, with streaming options available on Paramount+ or Fubo, which offers a free trial to potential subscribers. Paramount+ also requires a subscription.
