Minnesota swimmer Mallory Weggemann takes gold in Paris at the Paralympic Games

Swimmer Mallory Weggemann won the women’s 200 m. individual medley swimming competition final.

Weggemann won in record-setting time to become the defending paralympic champion in the event.

Weggeman won two medals in London in 2012—a gold in the 50-meter freestyle and a bronze in the 4×100-meter medley. She made the podium multiple times in Tokyo in 2021, winning gold in the 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter individual medley; silver in the 50-meter butterfly; and also took 5th in the 100-meter freestyle.

Weggemann grew up in Eagan and earned her degree from the University of Minnesota in public relations. In 2019, she co-produced a documentary that debuted at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival.

She also hosted studio coverage for NBC during the Paris Olympics.
