PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — La Salle is looking to get back to the state title game in 2024 after falling short to rival Bishop Hendricken in the semifinal last year.
The Rams have a loaded schedule — playing top teams from New York and Massachusetts — which will help prepare them to reach their postseason goals. The first Rhode Island opponent La Salle will play is North Kingstown on Sept. 21.
“The kids get a reel of what a college trip would feel like so they’re excited about that,” said head coach Geoff Marcone. “For us, it’s take it one game at a time and make sure we’re getting better every day. Guys are excited and we’re excited to get this thing rolling.”
“We’re just rallying around each other,” said senior Matthew Sanzi. “We’ve been trying to build this since the winter – since the offseason in the weight room – so we’re just trying to work hard and have a lot of energy for everyone because we want to play for everyone around us.”
The Rams open their season Saturday at Holy Trinity (N.Y.).
