Will Hawthorne put the team on his back in several different ways to help the Tigers emerge 1-0 with an OT win, 35-28, over DCG.

The Iowa State commit has scored for the fourth time tonight, helping push the Tigers to a 35-28 lead in overtime against Dallas Center-Grimes.

The J-Hawks, out of the mighty Class 5A CIML conference, were taken down by Class 4A Indianola, 21-17, on Friday night.

It’s a tight game, but the Lightning lead by 11 points with just over three minutes to play. Trojans will need something big to come back and earn a win now.

The Maroons controlled the game from the jump, pulling away with a 24-12 win to open the season.

Centennial senior running back Braeden Jackson posted 203 yards in the second half and 245 yards total. Oh yeah, he found the end zone three times too.

Jags up 31-10 with less than a minute remaining. So the Jags will get bragging rights in that matchup at least until the playoffs.

Valley’s lead was short-lived as the Rams came right back on their following drive to reclaim the lead, 17-13, over the Tigers.

Holden Hansen found Kaden Hills for the score. Just under eight minutes to play in that one.

Indianola, which was down 10 points just a few minutes ago, has battled back to take a 21-17 lead over the J-Hawks.

Just about 4:14 left to play in that game.

The flurry of 10 points in the final two minutes of the first half was a good omen for the Maroons. They’ve since added on to their lead, which now sits at 24-0 late in the third. But Kennedy is driving and threatening to score.

Magnus Bruening with the big leg to add three more points right at the buzzer.

Braeden Jackson finds the paint again, this time from 25-yards out. He gives Centennial a 24-10 lead over Ankeny with just 2:38 left in the second quarter.

The Tigers take their first lead of the game, 13-10, with 11:11 left in the fourth quarter. Trent Grevengoed hauled in a long pass from Drake DeGroote.

Looking to be a dramatic finish in a rematch of last year’s state semifinal.

The Wolves took their first lead of the game on a field goal to go up, 17-14, over Johnston. After a three-and-out from the Dragons, Waukee Northwest was pinned back to their own 1-yard-line. But they’re pushing the ball down the field and are just outside the red zone, threatening to score yet again, as the clock ran out in the third.

Northwest will start the fourth quarter at the Johnston 30.

Centennial senior Braeden Jackson, son of former Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson, finds the end zone for the first time this season. His 24-yard scamper gives the Jags a 17-10 lead over Ankeny.

He had a big run for 30+ yards earlier in the drive to get Centennial into scoring territory.

Rams extend their lead over Valley, 10-6, but it’s still tight. Defenses have been dominant and this one could come down to the wire.

Just 3:19 remaining in the third quarter there.

That makes it 17-0 Maroons with just 19 seconds left in the second quarter.

The Maroons add on to make it a two score game, earning a 10-0 lead over Kennedy, thanks to a 23-yard field goal. Dowling forced a fumble and recovered the ball shortly after kicking back off to Kennedy too. Maroons in business for another score before the break.

Just under two minutes remaining in the first half in that one.

Three special teams plays that have gone for over 90 yards tonight between the teams. This most recent one gives Webster City a score to open the second half. Lynx up 20-13 after the score

The Maroons strike first, going up 7-0, thanks to a four-yard run from Ian Middleton.

Waukee Northwest goes for it on fourth-and-seven from just inside the red zone. Mack Heitland takes a high snap and fires a ball 20-yards into the arms of Jordon Green, who made an acrobatic catch over a Johnston defender.

Wolves tie it up, 14-14, with 1:00 to play in the opening half.

Still very early in that game

Nuss, the senior QB, found his junior WR twice on that scoring drive. Once from deep to get the Dragons into the red zone, and a second time to hit paydirt and give Johnston a 14-7 lead over Waukee Northwest.

Halfway through the second quarter in that one.

It’s been a tight game out in West Des Moines, but the three-time defending state champ strike first. It’s 7-0 Rams as we near halftime.

A long drive for the Dragons results in seven points. D’Angelo Barkue hits paydirt from one yard out. PAT is good to give Johnston a 7-0 lead over Waukee Northwest.
