CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois (BGCSI) has appointed a new chief executive officer.
According to a release, LaShonda Hubert is now the CEO of BGCSI. She was selected following an extensive nationwide search led by Cordy Love, Vice Chair of the BGCSI Board of Directors.
“LaShonda’s on-site interview allowed the board and community members to witness her dedication firsthand and hear her inspiring vision for BGCSI,” Love said in a statement. “She is the ideal leader to guide us through the critical task of reopening our Clubs and resuming vital programming for the youth in our communities.”
Hubert currently serves as Area Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis, overseeing all clubs within the St. Louis City region. She manages the budget and is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of programs focused on academics, character development and healthy lifestyles for members.
Hubert will transition to Southern Illinois before the end of the month. Her immediate focus will be on reopening the clubs in Carbondale and Marion, which were forced to close last July due to a lack of funding.
