Blind taste test: Do all light beers taste the same?
We did a blind taste test to try and pick out Rhinegeist’s Cincy Light in a lineup of five light beers.
Bud Light is celebrating the return of the college football season, but not with a state best known for its reputation on the field.
Anheuser-Busch Co., one of America’s leading beer companies and the owner of Bud Light, announced Tuesday it plans to roll out its “biggest collection of college team packaging yet.”
According to USA TODAY, the collection represents 26 teams across the country by displaying “official team colors and prominent team logos” on the company’s signature beer cans. The limited-edition cans are currently available everywhere Bud Light is sold, the company said in a news release.
While beer lovers can find the collection in stores across the state, you won’t find a single can representing Ohio State, the University of Cincinnati or any other colleges or universities in Ohio.
However, the company didn’t ignore the entire Big 10 or Big 12 conferences, as the University of Iowa, University of Maryland, Kansas State University and Texas Tech University are among the many schools featured in the 2024 collection.
Bud Light also featured the nearby University of Kentucky. And if it makes you feel better, Ohioans, no schools in Indiana, West Virginia or Michigan were included, either.
Its important to note: UC is teamed up with Rhinegeist Brewing, as Cincy Light became the Bearcats’ Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) partner last year. Ohio State has a similar deal with BrewDog USA and The Foundation Ohio Pilsner. It’s unclear whether those deals are why the schools are not featured on the Bud Light cans.
The Enquirer reached out to Anheuser-Busch for more information and is awaiting a response.
