Ransdell takes over Mo State athletics, to lead Bears to C-USA

SPRINGFIELD, Mo–This time next year, Missouri State will be playing in a new conference and at a new level of football.

And Friday, the University introduced the man who will lead the Bears to Conference USA.

Patrick Ransdell comes to Springfield from Appalachian State where he was a Deputy AD.

Mo State celebrated the hire with a pep rally at the Plaster Student Union.

New president Richard Williams officially introduced Ransdell to a standing ovation.

At App State, Ransdell helped increase the football attendance and he set records in donations.

Both of those skills will be critical for Missouri State’s move up.

During his interview, Ransdell presented Williams with a 54-page plan for the transition.

“I want to quick. But I want to be deliberate. I don’t want to rush and then stumble along the way. I want to make sure we get it right. I get it, it’s my first day. It’s other people’s 60th day of support. I understand there’s going to be different levels of patience with that. But I want to make sure we get it right in everything that we do. Not just put a bandaid on it that may fall off later,” said Ransdell.

“He fits Missouri, he fits Missouri State. He’s had experience with the FCS to the FBS. He has experience with the revenue sharing. The external relations piece of things. And it was clear he was our guy,” said Williams.
