Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation awarded $300,000 for renewable heating

Montpelier, VT. – The United States Forest Service awarded a $300,000 Wood Innovations Grant to the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation.

The goal of this grant program is to help working lands businesses gain more carbon responsible heating systems. The provided advanced wood heating systems meet low emission requirements, using wood chips and pellets in an automated central structure.

“These grants are a great opportunity for farm and forest businesses to reduce their use of fossil fuels and strengthen the Vermont working lands economy,” said Andrew Perchlik, director of the Clean Energy Development Fund at the Vermont Department of Public Service.

Currently, applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The program will reimburse up to 50% of project costs with a $25,000 maximum.
