SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY/Gray News) – Drivers in South Dakota came upon an interesting traffic hazard after an ostrich broke free from its trailer.
An ostrich was seen at about noon Tuesday wandering the road near the intersection of Louise Avenue and West 26th Street in Sioux Falls.
Beverly Froslie was surprised when she drove up to a strange scene and caught some of the action on video.
In the video, a group of people try to wrangle the ostrich out of the roadway, grabbing its neck and pushing it toward the sidewalk.
According to Sioux Falls Police Department Public Information Officer Sam Clemens, the ostrich was traveling in a trailer through Sioux Falls when it got loose.
Clemens said there were actually two ostriches loose and the owner was able to capture and re-trailer the birds to head to another state.
No injuries were reported.
