According to the Action Network’s odds, the Knights are favored by 41½ points. They have won each of their last eight openers and hold a 34-10 all-time record in such situations.
The Knights brought in more than 40 new players during the offseason, intent to improve upon last year’s 6-7 finish — Gus Malzahn’s first losing record as a college coach. On the bright side, UCF was the only of the Big 12’s four newcomers to achieve bowl eligibility as BYU, Cincinnati and Houston finished under .500.

Former Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson is the most high-profile addition, and he will make his first start for UCF. Six newcomers are expected to start for the Knights on defense: defensive end Nyjalik Kelly, linebackers Ethan Barr and Deshawn Pace, cornerback Mac McWilliams and safeties Sheldon Arnold and Ladarius Tennison.

Peny Boone sprints 59 yards for 1st UCF rushing TD
A coveted transfer portal addition after spring camp, Peny Boone sprinted for a 59-yard touchdown — his first for UCF.
Boone, who ran for 1,400 yards last year at Toledo and was MAC Offensive Player of the Year, became the third Knights running back to score in the game. RJ Harvey has two rushing touchdowns, and Myles Montgomery has a 49-yard TD reception.

UCF rebounds with KJ Jefferson TD pass to Myles Montgomery
KJ Jefferson bounced back from his first UCF pick with his first UCF touchdown, finding Myles Montgomery wide open in the left flat for a 49-yard score. The Knights have a comfortable 36-3 lead with 9:15 left in the third quarter.
Randy Pittman Jr. picked up 20 yards earlier on the drive with a catch-and-run. UCF is averaging an even 8.0 yards per play, while limiting New Hampshire to 88 total yards.
KJ Jefferson throws interception on opening drive of 2nd half
KJ Jefferson’s passing struggles continued on the Knights’ first drive after halftime. He tossed an interception along the right sideline, underthrowing Xavier Townsend and allowing Zedane Williams to haul in an easy pick.
The Arkansas transfer is 3 of 10 on the night for 69 yards, though he ran for the Knights’ first touchdown of the year.

UCF breezed 80 yards in four plays to increase its lead over New Hampshire to 29-3 at the half.
KJ Jefferson connected with Kobe Hudson on a 46-yard pass, just his third completion of the half, and then lowered his shoulder to finish off a 13-yard scramble. RJ Harvey scored on the next play, going 13 yards around the corner for his second score of the half.
