It’s Week 2 of the TSSAA football season with all 12 Clarksville area teams in action. Here’s a breakdown and prediction for each game:
Stream Tennessee HS football games on the NFHS Network
Clarksville (1-0) at Springfield (1-0)
Time: 7 p.m. When: Friday
This is one of the oldest high school rivalries in Tennessee, and last season’s 100th meeting, which Clarksville won 42-7, marked the debut of a new trophy. If the Yellow Jackets are to wrest the Covered Bridge trophy away from the Wildcats, they’ll need to rely on a stout defense and rushing attack that averaged nine yards per carry in last Friday’s 34-0 win over Greenbrier. Clarksville had a similarly easy time in its season opener.
Prediction: Clarksville 34, Springfield 10
Kirkwood (1-0) at Montgomery Central (0-1)
Time: 7 p.m. When: Friday
It’s early, but Kirkwood looks like one of the most improved teams in Middle Tennessee. The Cobras racked up 504 yards in their 41-6 win over Sycamore. Sophomore Miles Reding, a transfer from Todd County Central in Kentucky, threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Montgomery Central was held to just 128 yards against Clarksville.
Prediction: Kirkwood 42, Montgomery Central 7
Logan County, Kentucky (1-0) at Rossview (1-0)
Time: 7 p.m. When: Friday
Rossview’s defense wasn’t a question heading into Week 1, but the Hawks’ offense had a hole to fill after the graduation of 1,000-yard rusher DeAntwan Young Jr. Enter Chris Johnson, who racked up 115 yards of offense in a 22-14 win at Wilson Central. Logan County, which went 8-4 in the KHSAA last season, beat Butler County 44-13 in its opener.
Prediction: Rossview 27, Logan County 21
Watch on NFHS Network: Logan County (KY) at Rossview
Green Hill (1-0) at West Creek (1-0)
Time: 7 p.m. When: Friday
West Creek avenged last year’s defeat to La Vergne in Week 1. Linebackers Kingston Leon and Jaylen Jackson combined for 19 tackles and led a defensive effort that held the Wolverines to 158 yards in coach Michael Booker’s debut, a 13-8 win. Green Hill’s offense, which scored touchdowns on its first five drives in a 41-7 win over Northeast, will be tougher to hold down.
Prediction: Green Hill 35, West Creek 14
Hendersonville (1-0) at Northeast (0-1)
Time: 7 p.m. When: Friday
Northeast dropped Deonte Weston’s first game as coach in blowout fashion, but the connection of Phoenix Love and Terry Jones was a bright spot. Jones caught eight passes for 165 yards and a touchdown in a 41-7 loss to Green Hill. Hendersonville held off Gallatin in its opener, gaining over 400 yards in a 19-16 win at home.
Prediction: Hendersonville 38, Northeast 7
Watch on NFHS Network: Hendersonville at Northeast
Wilson Central (0-1) at Northwest (1-0)
Time: 7 p.m. When: Friday
Northwest might challenge Kirkwood for the title of the area’s most improved team if Week 1 is a harbinger for the rest of the season. Bricen Moore ran for four touchdowns to lead the Vikings to a 35-16 win over Fort Campbell, their first non-forfeit victory in 16 games. Wilson Central won this matchup 42-0 in 2023 but has dropped seven of eight games dating back to last September.
Prediction: Wilson Central 31, Northwest 14
Watch on NFHS Network: Wilson Central at Northwest
Kenwood (0-1) at East Nashville (1-0)
Time: 7 p.m. When: Friday
Kenwood’s season started about as badly as it could have, with Franklin Road Academy scoring 37 points in the first quarter on the way to a 44-13 win. A bounce-back won’t come easy for the Knights. East Nashville has reached the Class 3A state championship game three years in a row. Keith Johnson ran for 215 yards in the Eagles’ 39-31 win over Pope John Paul II last Friday.
Prediction: East Nashville 42, Kenwood 13
Watch on NFHS Network: Kenwood at East Nashville
Ezell-Harding (0-1) at Clarksville Academy (0-1)
Time: 7 p.m. When: Friday
Clarksville Academy was outgained 341-14 and had minus-24 rushing yards in a 46-7 loss at Friendship Christian. Yes, it was ugly, but the Commanders reached last season’s DII-A BlueCross Bowl. The Cougars are much more evenly matched with Ezell-Harding, which went 4-7 last season and dropped its opening game 56-6 at DCA.
Prediction: Clarksville Academy 24, Ezell-Harding 17

East Robertson (1-0) at Houston County (1-0)
Time: 7 p.m. When: Friday
Preston Mitchell, Malaki Cary and Jordon Coronado combined to run for nearly 300 yards in Houston County’s 41-8 win over Hickman County and the Irish had four sacks and two blocked punts. The status of reigning Class 2A Mr. Football Isaiah Groves, of East Robertson, is unclear after he suffered an injury in Friday’s 30-0 win over Liberty Creek.
Prediction: East Robertson 42, Houston County 14
Watch on NFHS Network: East Robertson at Houston County
Stewart County (0-1) at Greenfield (0-1)
Time: 7 p.m. When: Friday
Stewart County gained just six first downs and gave up 560 yards in its 49-13 loss at Bruceton to start the season. The Rebels have now lost 14 consecutive games, and 22 of their last 26. Greenfield lost 14-10 to Perry County in Week 1.
Prediction: Greenfield 27, Stewart County 7
Fort Campbell, Kentucky (0-1) at Hopkins County Central, Kentucky, (0-1)
Time: 7 p.m. When: Friday
Fort Campbell was hurt by three fumbles in its loss to Northwest, but has a chance to rebound against a Hopkins County Central team which lost its opening game 42-6 to Caldwell County. Falcons quarterback Jacaryous Perryman, an All-Area first team selection in 2023, threw for two touchdowns against the Vikings.
Prediction: Fort Campbell 30, Hopkins County Central 24
