The Tennessee Titans will trim their roster from 90 players to 53 on Tuesday in advance of the start of the 2024 NFL season, meaning there are difficult decisions for first-year coach Brian Callahan and his staff.
The NFL deadline is 3 p.m. CT Tuesday. The Titans have to figure out what to do with injured players and if younger training camp standouts can earn their way on to their first roster over more established veterans.
Callahan and GM Ran Carthon will have the opportunity to bring back 16 or 17 players for the practice squad once waivers clear Wednesday, but those players also will be eligible to be picked up by other teams that are willing to sign the players to their active rosters.
The Titans began the cutting process Monday, waiving nine players, two of whom with injury designations. The most prominent players in the bunch included punter Ty Zentner, who ended last season as the Titans’ starter, as well as practice squad veterans like OLB Thomas Rush and WR Tre’Shaun Harrison.
