Some central Ohio schools are ending the class day early or closing this week as extreme heat and power outages cause complications in the region.
This comes as all of central Ohio is under a heat advisory this week, and temperatures in Columbus expected to reach a high of 94 degrees Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service Wilmington Office.

As a result of the heat, Lancaster City Schools announced a two-hour early release for high school students on Tuesday and Wednesday, and will make a determination Wednesday whether to continue early releases for the rest of the week, according to a post on Facebook. All other schools remain on a normal schedule. Lancaster City Schools could not be immediately reached for comment.
The NWS is forecasting high temperatures to remain in the mid-90s for the remainder of the week.
Other schools in eastern Franklin and Fairfield County have also announced closings related to power outages. STEM Middle at Baldwin Road Junior High, part of the Reynoldsburg City School district in Franklin County, was closed Tuesday due to a power outage impacting the HVAC systems and kitchen, according to a district Facebook post.
On Monday, Pickerington Local Schools announced Pickerington High School North in Fairfield County was releasing students early due to a power outage at the school building. The district later posted on Facebook that power had been restored and school would resume as normal on Tuesday.
