TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Members of the University of Alabama’s Adapted Athletic program will compete in the 2024 Summer Paralympics this week.
Initially reported by UA’s News Center, five players of Women’s Wheelchair Basketball will take the court in Paris starting Thursday. Abby Bauleke, Ixhelt Gonzalez, Bailey Moody and Lindsey Zurbrugg are competing for Team USA while Joy Haizelden is a part of Team Great Britain.

Additionally, 10 alumni members of UA’s Adapted Athletics will also represent six different nations in the games.
The Paralympic Games begin Thursday and run through Sept. 8. Complete schedules for each competition can be found on the Paralympics website.
