Tennessee high school football Super 25 preseason all-state team

The USA TODAY Network has released its preseason Tennessee Super 25 high school football team. It’s our version of a preseason all-state team with one tweak. We select 25 athletes by position statewide with all classifications combined.

It’s considered the best of the best.

The team was selected by Tennessean high school sports writer Tyler Palmateer, who covers Nashville area high schools and assists with statewide coverage. 

George MacIntyre

Brentwood Academy | Senior

Position: Quarterback

Why chosen: The Tennessee commitment is the No. 1 prospect in the 2025 class from Tennessee and the No. 8 QB nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite. He threw for 3,229 yards with 25 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions last season as the focal point of Brentwood Academy’s offense.

Shekai Mills-Knight

Baylor | Senior

Position: Running back

Why chosen: The Ole Miss commit rushed for 1,113 yards with 15 touchdowns to help Baylor finish as the Division II-AAA state runner-up last season. His offers include Tennessee, Michigan and Alabama. He’s the No. 13 player in Tennessee and the No. 31 running back nationally from the 2025 class. 

Daune Morris

Oakland | Senior

Position: Running back

Why chosen: Morris, a Southern Cal commitment, was a Class 6A Mr. Football finalist last season after rushing for more than 1,100 yards in the TSSAA playoffs alone. He finished with 2,022 rushing yards, 568 receiving yards and 36 touchdowns. He’s the No. 17 player in Tennessee and the No. 29 athlete nationally from the 2025 class. 

Joakim Dodson 

Baylor | Senior

Position: Wide receiver 

Why chosen: The Tennessee commit caught 52 passes for 1,012 yards and 10 touchdowns at Collierville in 2023. His offers include Vanderbilt, Purdue, Missouri, Mississippi State, Houston and others. He’s the No. 18 player in Tennessee from the 2025 class and the No. 104 receiver nationally.

Radarious Jackson

Sheffield | Senior

Position: Wide receiver 

Why chosen: Jackson, a Tennessee commit, is the No. 8 player in Tennessee from the 2025 class and the No. 40 receiver nationally. The Class 3A Mr. Football winner caught 30 passes for 696 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He also had 782 rushing yards, nine TDs with 340 yards passing and seven TDs. As a defensive back, he recorded 63 tackles and eight interceptions, returning three back for TDs.

Eli Owens

Alcoa | Senior

Position: Tight end

Why chosen: The Michigan three-star commitment caught 38 passes for 485 yards and five touchdowns last season. He is the No. 15 player from the 2025 class in Tennessee and No. 29 tight end nationally.  His offers include Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Michigan State. He helped Alcoa capture its ninth straight Class 3A state championship in 2023. 

Chauncey Gooden

Lipscomb Academy | Senior

Position: Offensive line

Why chosen: The 6-foot-4, 320-pound Colorado commitment is a four-star prospect and No. 3 prospect from the 2025 class in Tennessee. He’s the No. 11 interior lineman nationally.

Nic Moore

Jefferson County | Senior

Position: Offensive lineman

Why chosen: Moore, a 6-foot-2, 300-pound Tennessee commit, is a four-star prospect and No. 4 player in the state from the 2025 class. He’s the No. 13 offensive lineman nationally. 

Gabriel Osenda

Baylor | Junior

Position: Offensive lineman

Why chosen: The 6-foot-7, 350-pound junior has offers from Tennessee, Auburn, Florida, South Carolina, Washington and UCLA, among others. He’s the state’s No. 10 player from the 2026 class and the No. 26 offensive tackle nationally.

Brody Smith

Maryville | Junior

Position: Offensive lineman

Why chosen: The 6-foot-5, 240-pound lineman is the state’s No. 16 player from the 2026 class in Tennessee and No. 40 at his position nationally. He made the All-Region 2-6A team last year and has offers from Tennessee, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Miami and Colorado. He transferred to Maryville in the offseason.

Ta’Khyian Whitset

Antioch | Senior

Position: Offensive lineman

Why chosen: The Purdue commitment had 10 pancake blocks last season and didn’t give up a QB pressure or a sack while helping Antioch capture its first playoff berth since 2016. His offers include Vanderbilt, UAB, Tennessee State and Arkansas State, among others.

Cameron Sparks

Baylor | Senior

Position: Athlete

Why chosen: The four-star prospect is ranked as the No. 6 athlete in Tennessee from the 2025 class and the No. 9 at that position nationally. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound senior’s offers include Tennessee, Georgia, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, Colorado, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State and Miami. He caught 38 passes for 711 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

London Bironas

Brentwood Academy | Senior

Position: Kicker 

Why chosen: The Princeton commitment is the son of the late Tennessee Titans legend Rob Bironas. He was perfect in extra points last season, hitting 14-of-14. He was 5-of-9 on field goals with a long of 38 yards. He is the No. 8 kicker nationally, according to Kohl’s Professional Camps.

DefenseJhrevious Hall 

Columbia | Senior 

Position: Defensive lineman 

Why chosen: Hall, a three-star Indiana commitment, tallied 40 tackles for a loss (82 total tackles) and 13 sacks last season. He had four forced fumbles and a defensive TD.

Ethan Utley

Ensworth | Senior

Position: Defensive lineman

Why chosen: The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Tennessee commitment is a four-star prospect and No. 20 defensive lineman nationally from the 2025 class. He totaled 35.5 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, and a sack last season.

Kalen Edwards

Dyersburg | Senior

Position: Defensive lineman

Why chosen: The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Kentucky commitment is the No. 11 player in Tennessee from the 2025 class. He totaled 47 tackles, including 12 for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and three blocked kicks while leading Dyersburg to the TSSAA Class 3A state semifinals last season.

Stephon Shivers

Brentwood Academy | Senior

Position: Defensive lineman

Why chosen: The 6-foot-4, 355-pound Georgia commitment is the No. 18 player in Tennessee from the 2025 class. He totaled 90 tackles with 11 sacks, 10 forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries while at Humboldt last season. 

Brendan Anes

Page | Senior

Position: Linebacker 

Why chosen: The Wisconsin commitment recorded 90 tackles, 18 TFLs, 5.5 sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery last season, helping lead Page to a 13-2 record and a third straight trip to the Class 5A state title game.

Austin Howard

Bartlett | Senior

Position: Linebacker

Why chosen: The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Mississippi State commitment recorded 40 tackles and 14 TFLs last season. He’s the state’s No. 22 player from the 2025 class. 

Kris Thompson 

Lipscomb Academy | Senior

Position: Linebacker 

Why chosen: Thompson recorded 84 tackles in 10 games last fall with 3.5 sacks, 15.5 tackles for loss, a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown. He’s one of the state’s top uncommitted prospects, with offers from Tennessee, Ole Miss, Florida, Michigan, Louisville, Oklahoma State, UAB and Colorado, among others. 

Carson Lawrence

McCallie | Senior

Position: Defensive back

Why chosen: The Vanderbilt commitment is the state’s No. 11 player from the 2025 class. He had 37 tackles last season with four interceptions and eight passes defended. His offers include Michigan, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Georgia Tech and Miami, among others. 

Donovan Starr

Ravenwood | Senior 

Position: Defensive back

Why chosen: The Auburn commitment and four-star defensive back is ranked as the 14th best prospect in Tennessee for the 2025 class, according to 247Sports Composite. He had 46 tackles and an interception last season. His offer list includes Clemson, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miami, Vanderbilt, Florida and North Carolina among others.

CJ Jimcoily

Lipscomb Academy | Sr.

Position: Defensive back

Why chosen: The four-star safety and LSU commitment finished last season with 51 tackles, one interception and four pass break-ups. He’s ranked as the No. 12 prospect in the state for 2025. His offer list includes Tennessee, Oklahoma, Colorado, Florida, Michigan and Kentucky among others.

Jaylan Morgan 

Rockvale | Senior

Position: Defensive back

Why chosen: The Georgia commitment tallied 40 tackles and five pass break-ups last season. He’s a four-star athlete ranked as the No. 7 prospect in the state and the No. 25-ranked safety in the nation with 30 scholarship offers from Tennessee, Alabama, USC and Oklahoma among others.

Gavin Rush

Page | Senior

Position: Punter

Why chosen: The 6-foot-3, 178-pound Arkansas commitment had a 37-yard punt average last season for the Class 5A state runner-up Patriots. He pinned 22 punts inside the 20-yard line, with a long of 63 yards.  His long of 63 yards last fall was among the best in Middle Tennessee. He’s the No. 12 punter nationally, according to Kohl’s Professional Camps.
