The annual Kentucky Farm Bureau ham auction sold the blue ribbon ham for a record $10.5 million
How much would you pay for a prize-winning ham? At the Kentucky State Fair, politicians and other state leaders gather each year to bid on one.
The first ham sold in 1964 for $124. It’s safe to say these hams are a bit pricier now. The winning ham this year sold for $10.5 million to some familiar names.
Here’s a look at the top 10 winning ham bids at the fair.

At the 60th annual event, a ham sold for a record $10.5 million to Kelly Craft, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations; and her husband, Joe Craft. Kelly said the proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Clubs.

At the 59th event, Craft, her husband and Central Bank also had the winning bid with joint $5M bids, upping the previous year. The ham also was produced by Broadbent B&B.

The 2022 ham from Broadbent B&B Food Products sold for $5M — also to Kelly and Joe Craft and Central Bank, who broke the previous record with another Broadbent B&B ham.
Kentucky Country Ham Breakfast 2021: $4.8M
In 2021, the Crafts began their reign of ham-buying philanthropy. Partnering with Central Bank, they bought the ham that year for $4.8M.

The winning ham in 2018 sold to Central Bank and Dr. Mark Lynn for $2.8 million.
Kentucky Country Ham Breakfast 2014: $2M
The winning ham in 2014 was from Broadbent’s B&B food. The buyer was Republic Bank and Hermitage Farm Charities with Bridgemen Foods Inc.
Kentucky Country Ham Breakfast 2010: $1.6M
The 2010 ham from Broadbent continued past the $1 million mark, going for $1.6 million to Republic Bank and Dr. Mark Lynn.
Kentucky Country Ham Breakfast 2009: $1.3M
At the 2009 event, the winning bid passed $1 million for the first time. The ham from Scott Hams went to Republic Bank and Proof on Main.
Kentucky Country Ham Breakfast 2019: $1MKentucky Ham Breakfast 2011 and 2016: $600K
2016 was the last year the winning bid was below $1 million. The ham from Broadbent’s B&B Food Products went to Central Bank in Lexington for $600,000.
In 2011, the winning bid was also $600,000, and the ham also came from Broadbent. Republic Bank of Louisville had the winning bid.
