FLINT, MI – A first-time Crim runner was the first woman to cross the finish line in the HAP CareSource Crim Festival of Races 10-mile run.
Competing in the USA Track and Field 10-mile Masters Championships, Hidi Gaff from Fort Wayne, Indiana won the women’s race in downtown Flint on Aug. 24.
Gaff finished the race in one hour, two minutes and 31 seconds. She raced at a mile pace of 6 minutes and 15 seconds.
Gaff, 43, grew up in Holland, Michigan, where she began running in high school. She now runs with Three Rivers Racing Elite, a team based out of Fort Wayne.
“It really went by in a blur,” Gaff said about the race.
Dot McMahan, a runner from Oakland Township, Michigan, was the first woman to finish in the open race, according to live results. She finished with a time of 55 minutes and 48 seconds.
