Reading Time: 2 minutes

US: Alaska Airlines has partnered with Expedia Group to introduce Stays by Alaska Vacations, a platform through which guests will be able to explore exclusive deals on 900,000+ vacation rentals and hotels, while earning and redeeming miles through the loyalty program.

As of today, guests of the airline can access deals on accommodations across the world through the Stays by Alaska Vacations platform. Alaska Mileage Plan members will be able to earn one mile per dollar on all bookings through the program, while Alaska Airlines Visa Signature cardholders will earn an additional three miles per dollar spent on eligible pre-paid stays, as well as experience preferred redemption rates when redeeming their miles for bookings.

Courtney Lansing, managing director of business development and products at Alaska Airlines, said: “Stays by Alaska Vacations combines convenience and affordability, by giving our guests access to Expedia Group’s vast inventory and unlocking special savings while earning status on an award-winning airline. Through this partnership with Expedia Group, we’re empowering our guests with choices for every part of their trip — from flights to where they’re staying.

“It’s a testament to our shared commitment to enhancing the travel experience,” added Lansing.

Stephen Cheng, vice president of strategic partnerships at Expedia Group, said: “We are excited to expand our partnership with Alaska Airlines, underscoring our commitment to seamless, end-to-end traveller experiences backed by proven, reliable tech. Powered by our White Label Template solution, Stays by Alaska Vacations unlocks our robust lodging supply and offers incredible value for Alaska Mileage Plan members to earn and redeem miles across various trip elements.”

Earlier this year, Alaska Airlines debuted its vacation packages travel portal Packages by Alaska Vacations, through which guests can take advantage of package-only discounts on airfares, hotel rates, car rentals and activities. The platform is designed to enable guests to easily customise and bundle their vacation packages, while saving money and earning miles throughout the booking process.

Alaska Airlines and its regional partners currently serve more than 120 destinations across the United States, the Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico.

Meanwhile, US airline JetBlue last week announced a partnership with Expedia Group vacation rental brand Vrbo through its travel booking website Paisly

Launched in 2021, Paisly by JetBlue enables travellers who are JetBlue customers or TrueBlue [JetBlue’s loyalty programme] members to book non-flight related trip elements such as vacation rentals, hotels, car rentals, activities and travel bags a-la-carte style, all while earning TrueBlue points [counting towards future free JetBlue flights] and tiles [counting towards Perks You Pick and Mosaic ‘elite’ status].

As a result of the partnership, travellers and members will now be able to use the Paisly site to book those trip elements through Vrbo.
