Seniors Cody Simon, Emeka Egbuka, TreVeyon Henderson and Jack Sawyer have been voted captains by their teammates for Ohio State this season.

“The great news is we have a great group of leaders,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said in a statement. “Just because you are not a captain doesn’t mean you’re not a leader. You’re still a leader. Leadership is earned and a lot of you guys have earned leadership. There are a lot of captains on this team. The players did a great job voting.”

Henderson has embraced sharing the running back load with Mississippi transfer Quinshon Judkins this season. They are expected to form the top running duo in the country.

Sawyer, a defensive end from Pickerington, blossomed in the second half of last season and is expected to team with J.T. Tuimoloau and a talent-laden defensive line to anchor what’s expected to be an elite defense.

All four captains have been OSU Scholar-Athletes, which requires at least a 3.0 grade point average.
