Events Happening Today In Central Ohio

Around town this weekend, there are several fun events for the whole family. Here are just a few ideas for you as you plan your day.

First, the Columbus Food Truck Festival is back. This time, it’s the “Hilliard Edition” taking place at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. The annual festival, now in its 13th year, features a delicious array of cuisines from fifty of the best food trucks in Ohio. Alongside the food, you can also enjoy live music and shopping with local makers and retailers. It’s happening from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Tickets are five dollars online and ten dollars at the door.

You can celebrate Columbus’ vibrant Black culture during CBUS Soul Fest downtown at Genoa Park today from 4 until 10 p.m. The third annual summer festival features live music from a great lineup of musicians such as DJ “J Rawls,” “The Liquid Crystal Project,” “Kindred the Family Soul,” “Brianna O Dell,” and “Tony Toni Tone.” As well as some fantastic local food and beverages. Admission is free, and the festival is open to all.

The USA BMX Buckeye Nationals event is in full swing at Marysville BMX. Hundreds of professional and amateur BMX riders from around the globe are there sharing the exciting sport of bicycle motocross. Cameron Fontana previewed the practice races with some of the riders yesterday. This is Marysville BMX’s first time hosting a national race. The event is free, but parking is ten dollars. The race begins at 9 a.m.

Columbus City Schools is hosting their Back to School Resource Fair today. This will take place at Fort Hayes High School. Over 100 vendors from the district will be there assisting students with school supplies and other materials before the first day. Students will receive items such as school supplies, backpacks, and more. This will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 2 this afternoon.

The Hilliard Darby Marching Band is looking for your help today. Students will be collecting donations to help with instrument repairs, contest fees, transportation costs, and more. They will also be collecting donations online—head to 99pledge.com and search “Hilliard Darby Tag Day.”

Groups are coming together to help stop violence in the community. The “150 Mother March Rally” is being held today by “Mothers of Murdered Columbus Children.” They will be working with various faith leaders and Columbus Police. The groups and other community leaders will march through downtown. Then afterwards, there will be a pastor pep rally and block party. This will begin at 1 p.m., starting at the Municipal Court steps.
