Dubai [UAE], August 17 (ANI/WAM): Egypt, Qatar, and the United States announced on Friday that senior officials from the three countries will reconvene in Cairo before the end of next week for further talks aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
According to a joint statement, intensive negotiations held over the past 48 hours in Doha focused on securing a ceasefire and the release of captives and detainees. The United States, with support from Qatar and Egypt, presented a proposal that aligns with President Biden’s principles and UN Security Council Resolution 2735, aiming to bridge remaining gaps and hasten the agreement’s implementation.
Technical teams are set to finalize implementation details, particularly concerning humanitarian arrangements and issues related to captives and detainees. The statement emphasized the urgency to cease hostilities, release captives, and provide relief to Gaza’s residents, aiming to de-escalate regional tensions.
