Fan poll: Which Georgia football assistant coach will be next to get a head coaching job?

Kirby Smart’s Georgia football staff had turnover after last season. That’s par for the course for one of the elite programs nationally.

Two assistant coaches left to become head coaches of their own.

Which brings us to this week’s fan poll question: Which Bulldogs assistant coach will be next to get a head coaching job?

The easy answer may be defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann, but then again how many would have answered Fran Brown a year ago? He was hired in December as Syracuse head coach after two seasons as defensive backs coach under Smart.

Running backs coach Dell McGee, long seen as head coaching material, made the move next to become Georgia State coach.

Schumann has been picky for his next move. He interviewed for the Eagles defensive coordinator job after the 2022 season. He’s been with Smart for 17 seasons going back to Alabama.

Vote below. Here are others we are throwing out there.

Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. Yeah, he spent five seasons as Colorado State coach but if the Bulldogs’ offense keeps humming maybe he’ll get another call. A job in the Southeast may be the best fit.

Co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson. He seems to have the personality and SEC experience that could make him attractive. He’s got the recruiting chops.

Tight ends coach Todd Hartley. The soon-to-be 39-year old has recruited and developed NFL tight ends with Oscar Delp next up there. Could go from position coach to head coach like former Georgia assistants Sam Pittman and Shane Beamer.

Defensive line coach Tray Scott. Entering his eighth season on staff under Smart could be a strong selling point for a Group of Five program if he wants to make the move. He’s already paid like a head coach at $1.25 million, which would put him at or above 41 FBS head coaches last year.
