A former Arizona Cardinals player is excited about the opportunity to play with his new team, the New England Patriots.
And evidently happy to be away from his former team — the team that drafted him in the fourth round in 2021.
Cornerback Marco Wilson appeared to take some shots at the Cardinals during an interview with reporters at Patriots camp earlier this week.
“I feel like this is a real start to my real NFL journey,” Wilson told reporters. ” I feel like I’m finally on a team that takes things seriously, you know, inside the building and off the field.”

Wilson wasn’t done, saying that he felt like he was now a “professional” football player.
“I finally feel like I’m really coming to work day in and day out, like it’s real serious work and I really appreciate that aspect because, I mean, I am in the NFL,” he said. “I am a professional now and I really feel like it.”
The Cardinals released Wilson on Dec. 26 last season, and the Patriots quickly claimed the former University of Florida standout the next day.
He recorded 159 combined tackles during his time with the Cardinals, playing in 43 games over three seasons, recording three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
He had one assisted tackle in one game with the Patriots last season after being picked up by New England.

Interestingly, the Cardinals are scheduled to host the Patriots in Week 15 this season in Glendale on Sunday, Dec. 15, so the team could have a chance to face its former CB in the upcoming season.
Wilson, however, isn’t guaranteed to make the Patriots’ roster, although the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed recently wrote that Wilson is “making a strong case for a roster spot” and “feels like a natural fit” on New England’s defense.
Wilson said his new coaches permit him to play to his athletic ability, which could be taken as another possible shot that his former coaches didn’t.
“I love the defense,” Wilson told reporters. “It reminds me of some defenses that I’ve done well in in the past, so I’m excited about that. I feel like it just allows me to play to my athletic ability and the coaches trust me to play the techniques the right way, so I appreciate that.”
Dec. 15 is a long way away, but the Patriots vs. Cardinals game at State Farm Stadium has the potential to be very interesting for Wilson and his former team.
