Trucking Company Owner Charged for Crash That Killed 7 Bikers
BOSTON, MA—Dunyadar Gasanov, also known as Damien Gasanov, 39, a former owner of the now-defunct Westfield Transport, Inc., entered a guilty plea today to federal charges stemming from a June 2019 crash that resulted in the deaths of seven motorcyclists in New Hampshire.
Gasanov admitted to three counts of making false statements to federal investigators. Sentencing is scheduled for November 21.
The fatal incident, which has had a profound impact on the community and the families of the victims, highlighted serious violations of safety regulations. According to Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy, ensuring that commercial vehicle operators comply with all safety procedures is vital for public safety.
“This defendant flouted those laws that are critical to public safety, and he jeopardized everyone on the road, with tragic consequences here,” Levy stated.
Court documents reveal that between May 3 and June 23, 2019, Dunyadar Gasanov, along with Dartanayan Gasanov, who has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial, instructed employees to falsify driving logs to evade federal safety regulations.
Dunyadar Gasanov also lied about his familiarity with a driver involved in the deadly crash, knowing the driver had prior charges for operating under the influence.
