USA Men’s & Women’s Olympic Teams Results

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, the USA sent four men and four women, and the results were one Bronze Medal.

Leading the Men’s team, Orlando, Florida’s Omari Jones at welterweight #156 was the lone medal winner. He posted a pair of wins before losing a disputed decision.

Jones, 30-11, defeated CW Kan Chia, 12-16, of Taipei, China. Then defeated R.M. Kiwan, 12-17, of Bulgaria all scores 30-27. He then lost a disputed split decision in the medal round to Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev, 47-6, of Fergana, Uzbekistan in the semifinal by scores of 30-27, 27-30, 28-29 twice and 29-28.

Featherweight #125, Jahmal Harvey, 60-8, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, won his first fight by split decision over Luiz Oliveira of Brazil, 47-10, by scores of 29-28 three times and 28-29 twice. Then lost by split decision to Munarbek Seitbek, 38-25, of Osh, Kyrgyzstan, 28-29, three times, 30-27, and 29-28.

Heavyweight Joshua Edwards, 19-6, of Houston, Texas, lost by split decision to Diego Lenzi, 14-6, of Assisi, Umbria, Italy, by scores of 28-28, 27-29, 26-30, 27-29 and 29-27.

Flyweight Roscoe Hill, 37-11, of Spring, Texas, defeated Omid Ahmadisafa, 15-14, of Tehran, Iran, and Munich, Bayern, Germany, by scores of 29-28 three times and 30-27.

Then lost a decision to Billal Bennama, of France, by scores of 29-28 twice and 28-29 three times.

Leading the female team Lightweight #132, Jajaira Gonzalez, 57-8, of Colorado Springs and Glenora, California, defeated 2016 Gold Medalist Estelle Mosley, 85-31-1, of Bagnolet, Seine-Saint-Denis, France, by scores of 30-26, 28-28, 29-27 three times. Then lost to Beatriz Ferreira, 108-9, of Sao Paulo, Brazil, by scores of 28-29 three times, 27-30 twice.

Welterweight #145, Morelle McCane, 38-15, of Cleveland, Ohio, lost by split decision to Navbakhor Khamidova, 16-8, of Fergana, Uzbekistan by scores of 29-28, 27-30, 28-29 twice and 30-27.

Southpaw Jennifer Lozano, 24-10, of Laredo, Texas, lost to southpaw Pihia Kaivo Oja, 54-26, of Tampere, Finland, by scores of 27-30 five times.

Southpaw Alyssa ‘La Travissa’ Mendoza, 40-13, of Caldwell, Idaho, won a split decision over Mizhgona Samadova, 5-11, of Dushanbe, Tajikistan by scores of 29-28 twice, 28-29 twice and 30-27. Then lost by majority decision to Jucielen Cerqueira Romeu, 31-15, of Sao Paulo, Brazil, 28-29 three times, 27-30 and 29-28.
