The Maine Roadshow at Rangeley Public Library

Maine Roadshow Tim O’Brien Tim O`Brien

Author Tim O’Brien will be speaking at the Rangeley Public Library on Wednesday, August 21st, at 6:00 PM. Tim will be taking us on a fun visual tour of the state of Maine, visiting some of its most unique sites as presented in his book The Maine Roadshow: A Roadside Tour of the State’s History, Culture, Food, Funk & Oddities.

The Maine Roadshow

“A very tall woman was tagged by P. T. Barnum as the Maine Giantess. Paul Bunyan and Blue left behind giant chairs as they explored the River Valley. Our state has more moose per mile than any of the other lower 48 states. Maine’s oldest town was incorporated 125 years before the birth of the United States. There’s a building in Columbia Falls that looks like a blueberry and one in Wells that looks like a hunk of cheese. AND, Maine is the only U.S. state with one syllable.”

These are just a few of the fun facts O’Brien will be sharing when he visits the Rangeley Public Library at 7 Lake Street, Rangeley. O’Brien’s book is lavishly illustrated with nearly 450 photos, all taken by the author, and more than 400 listings, all visited in person by the author, during a five-year, thousands-of-miles journey exploring and documenting all corners of the state. Books will be available for purchase.  Please stop by or call (207)864-5529 to sign up for this free program.
