She was successfully extradited from the United States and arrived at OR Tambo on Friday afternoon.
The 37-year-old Cholota is an accused in the R255 million asbestos fraud and corruption case involving Magashule, controversial businessman Edwin Sodi and 15 others.
Cholota testified at the state capture commission of inquiry, where she implicated Magashule and others in underhanded dealings while he was premier.
Magashule’s former assistant was initially a state witness but was added to the accused person list when she refused to cooperate.
Interpol issued a red alert notice for suspects evading the law after several failed attempts to return to the country to testify.
She was then added to the accused persons’ list when she refused to cooperate with authorities.
The State alleges that high-ranking officials, including Magashule, received kickbacks from the asbestos removal funds, with only R21 million worth of work completed out of the intended R255 million.
Hawks spokesperson Philani Nkwalase said 18 accused, including five companies, are expected to return to the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein for trial from 15 April 2025 to 23 June 2025.
