All-NBA Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards had a modest individual night in Team USA’s semifinal comeback 95-91 victory over Team Serbia on Thursday. And he made sure to give credit where credit was due to his superstar teammates, per BasketNews.

The Americans will face off against the 2024 Paris Olympics’ home nation squad, Team France, on Saturday in a do-or-die gold medal game.

“Steph Curry and Joel, they came alive,” Edwards said. “They carried us today.”

All-NBA Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry, who is playing in his first-ever Olympics at age 36, scored (appropriately enough) 36 points while shooting 12-of-19 from the field, including 9-of-14 from long range. He also pulled down eight rebounds for good measure.

Former 2023 MVP Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, playing against the 2021, ’22 and ’24 MVP Nikola Jokic on Thursday, notched 19 points on a hyper-efficient 8-of-11 field goal shooting — by far his best game of the tournament to date.

In the first half, Team Serbia led Team USA by as much as 17 points. The Americans still trailed by 13 points in the fourth quarter — until the U.S. went on a stellar 32-15 scoring rally, propelled by Curry, Embiid, Phoenix Suns All-Stars Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, and Los Angeles Lakers All-NBA combo forward LeBron James. James notched a 16-point, 12-rebound, 10-assist triple-double.

“We knew we were going to turn it around, but we didn’t know when it was going to happen, and we didn’t want to run out of time. So I know if we got stops, we’re gonna be able to put the ball in the rim,” Edwards revealed. “And we did that. LeBron made the layup to turn the game around. And Book hit the 3 to turn the game around, for sure.”

For his part, Edwards logged just two points in 13 minutes of action but supplied some solid defensive stretches.

“It felt great because I think we are all playing with no egos. The whole bench is full of great players. Everybody out there is full of great players. And we were all cheering each other along. If you watch the bench, we were all hyped as Steph was making shots,” Edwards noted.

Through the U.S.’s first five contests in competition, Edwards is averaging an impressively robust 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals a night off the bench.
